I happened to be in the Raffles Place area. It had been drizzling for the past two and a half hours... a downer for most establishments' businesses.
Emerging from Koufu at As I walked past Frigidarium, I stopped and gazed at the beautiful mountains of gelato inside. It's not a hot day. You shouldn't keep feeing the sugar habit... I walked on. Then I paused, and turned back, into Frigidarium.
Regardless of whether it's rainy or sunny, spooning up Frigidarium's silky soft and dense gelato is bound to put a smile on your face. I'm glad to say that another awesome pistachio cream can be found at Frigidarium! Fragrant, nutty goodness... pistachio is quickly becoming one of my favorite flavors. Rum crunch & raisin was good too. I'm kind of puzzled by its name though, because there were no raisins (phew!) or crunchy bits inside. Adults may prefer to have more rum in this gelato, but the intensity of the alcohol was just right for me.
I will visit Frigidarium on rainy days. (Actually, not only on rainy days.) Oh! I must too mention that from 5pm-7pm on Fridays, two flavors of gelato go for the price of one!
Ice-cream/gelato is something I must have... all the time ;)

ReplyDeletehey! nice layout! I just went back frigidarium on friday. Their gelato are so addictive! Totally agree with you that the pistachio gelato was awesome. And I heard from Dawn & June that they are coming up with new flavours soon! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd harris, time for you to check out Frigidarium. hehe :P
ReplyDeleteharris: actually this is the fourth- I posted about frigidarium twice, and bella v and ice once each. you've got to try it!
ReplyDeletebella v: thanks (: btw i like how pretty your layout is! did you come up with it yourself?
i miss ice cream. under doc's orders, no cold stuff
ReplyDeleteGives me an idea on where to go when it rains. lolx. Are they open on weekends? Alot of eateries in the CBD area don't.
ReplyDeletethanks! I got my layout from http://www.deluxetemplates.net/. You may wish to check it out! :D
ReplyDeleteFunny, I seemed to be craving for Frigidarium every week. haha. Shall go back again when to try out more!
Their pistachio is not bad, but Tom's is still the best. Frigidarium's hazelnut on the other hand, is awesome, best hazelnut gelato I've tried. It's very richly nutty, go for it next time. (:
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Venezia? It's another one of my favorite gelato joints. Their gianduja & tartufo especially are very good, you'll like.
Cavalock: poor you! how long do you have to wait before you get to have ice-cream again? hope you get well soon (:
ReplyDeleteDaniel: sadly it isn't open on weekends... they're open from 11am-7.30pm on Mon-Thu and from 11am-8pm on Fri.
ice: thanks for the tip! i've tried Venezia only once, probably when i was in P4, at their Kovan outlet. tastewise it was quite nice, but the sales assistant faced a fair bit of difficulty trying to scoop up the gelato, giving my mum the impression that the gelato was hard. so she refused to buy me gelato from Venezia from then on lol.
which outlet do you usually patronize? i'll give it a try sometime (:
Their main cafe at Guthrie House is nice to hang out at. But I go to the Bugis Junction outlet for convenience & service. One Malay server there is particularly nice. Taka outlet is centralized too but when I'm there, I'll choose Azabu Sabo instead.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite flavors are Yoggi (yums) & Hazelnut, sometimes I'll go for tiramisu & rum & raisin. They have interesting flavors like Italian biscotti, burnt sugar & mascarpone cheese. Dark chocolate is deeply chocolatey, butterscotch is delicious & if you like sorbets their lemon sorbet is lip-puckingly sour but nice. (:
I like Venezia's gelato because of the texture, it's like Frigidarium's & though it's a homegrown brand, they do not sell themselves as "authentic" Italian gelato.
